Mythic, without the Entertainment
I can’t believe no-one has cracked that one yet. Yes BioWare Mythic has renamed itself AGAIN and is now known as Mythic.
In the wake of a new focus our studio has recently changed its name from BioWare Mythic to Mythic. Everything else stays the same – our passionate teams will continue to support and develop our existing titles as well as working on some new and exciting projects.
- Not Mythic Entertainment
- Not BioWare Mythic
- Not EA Mythic
Some may say that they change name too much, but long-time fans of the studio’s games have always disliked moving away from the original Mythic Entertainment and having another brand being slapped on.
This name change reflects the change in direction that the studio is going. Looking at their shiny new website (which has yet to reflect the name change) it tells you that:
EA Mythic is looking for passionate, talented people willing to help disrupt and redefine the RPG genre in the mobile space.
The new focus for their studio is mobile games, tablets etc, this was something predicted when Ultima Forever was announced.
As some of you may notice on Mythic’s game websites they have been removing the references to BioWare, it looks like Mythic is no longer part of the BioWare Group and is out on their own again.
What does this mean for the BioWare Social Network and the Warhammer Online forums? I think the general opinion is to move to a platform they control. The BSN has a number of limitations, certainly with moderation abilities and most importantly for me a lack of Dev Tracker and RSS feeds.
I’m not sure they can do this, there will be the issue of a post database, you wouldn’t want to lose any posts, and a user database, this is something that BSN probably won’t part with. Also something to be aware of, will the community move if they regularly post there?
