DAoC / WAR Timecode Drama

Late last month there was a rather innocent looking news post on the DAOC Website, I didn’t think anything of it. Then during my random browsing on the DAoC VN Boards  I found an interesting thread.

The Problem

It was a complaint that the codes they bought on Origin were already used. It turns out that someone on VN had been selling DAoC codes, and selling DAoC accounts with codes applied to them.

Corfel nicely summarized the culprits activity:

This was one thread – He edited it due to mod aggro http://vnboards.ign.com/ywain/b23441/114907359/r114907481/

Mythic Response
Kai posted on the thread the following:

A small amount of invalid codes have been distributed to persons making purchases for Dark Age of Camelot. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and we are working together with the responsible back end provider to distribute correct codes to players affected by this issue.

If you have received an invalid code, you will receive a new code via email within the next days.

We are still waiting for the backend provider to finalize the list of affected accounts and to send the replacements codes.

A solid response from Mythic here, if you buy from them the guarentee if something does not work is that they will replace it.

This isn’t the first hiccup that Mythic has faced regarding billing, personally I won’t buy time cards and I won’t subscribe monthly. I pay for a month and immediately cancel on all my MMO’s.
